I suffer from MCS/EI, and can tell you that I have gotten worse over time, and to multiple chemicals....hence the name "multiple chemical sensitivity". What I'd like to know is how she got to a point where she can go out for short outings without getting ill? What does she attribute to her improved health? Was it simply the avoidance and moving to a home that had better air quality? Thanks! It was a good video.

Whether this problem is actual or psychosomatic, I think you can only help your health by trying to eliminate as many chemicals as you can. By the time the medical community catches up, it would be too late.

I can relate to Alyssa's story. My experience is very similar. I suffer from countless allergies and years of insomnia, with the main culprit being mold within the walls of my home. With my home being constantly sealed in to keep in the A/C, the allergens inside were very hazardous. Thanks for doing this story, I think it will help others.

Tell ON what you think.

This video is a little bit misleading. Multiple Chemical sensitivity is not due to allergies to chemicals and although you can have illness related to too much of anything and can be allergic to a chemical, exposure to any chemical will not cause illness.

They stated clearly that her illness was caused to overexposure to chlorine, benzine and formaldehyde. And once you have this illness then you will react to not only those but many other chemicals. As Alyssa stated, its different for everyone. Medical schools and most doctors are ill informed and dont represent their patients best interest. If you truly want to help as a doctor, maybe you should let someone with this disease live in your home and accommodate their needs and learn directly from them, your own focus group.

I suffered from MCS due to working as a technician for years in pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and production settings. The "tipping point" for myself was due to two things: first, I was doing a high-intensity bicycling regimen (even riding my bike to work to and from which was about 12 miles each way every day). The second factor, is that the facility I worked at had an older print shop in-house, which had older (non-digital) printing equipment and hence required many more solvents to clean. The intense workouts coupled with the overexposure to inks, solvents, and cleaners, destroyed my immune system and I became very sick. Now, two years later, I am much better due to adopting more of a macrobiotic diet, and eliminating in as much as possible chemicals in my home. This includes filtering water, using non-toxic products in the home, and completely eliminating processed foods and foods with artificial ingredients.

for myself was when I was working in a print shop which had older equipment,
