Recycling On The Job
Alex walks us through the recycling process on both a build site and at an office. By touring a local recycling center, Alex shows us what materials can be recycled and what happens to them when they are hauled away. Back at the build site, we see how materials onsite get recycled and reused, which helps reduce consumption and keep waste out of landfills.

I like the video and would like to use it in a recycling presentation I am doing for my company. Is there any way I can get this in dvd format?
i'm a green builder in seattle, wa. i've lived in austin and will be moving down there again within the year. i've got a couple of problems with the job-site chipper. #1. it looks like the drywall dust is just kinda blowing through the air. polluting the air is not green. #2. i would not use plywood chips as mulch or beauty bark under any circumstance. plywood contains adhesives and formaldehyde which will contaminate the soil when it rains. you guys have your hearts in the right place but, i don't know where your heads are at. if i'm totally wrong here and you know something that i don't please, by all means let me know. green building, to me, is about seeing the big picture; it means caring about more than yourself- you've gotta care about the world- and making a quality product. i liked the bit about the office recycling though. keep up the good work.

The Federal EPA along with the National Association of Homebuilders did the original study on this method of recycling. Since that time many additional studies have been done. They have included OSB and Plywood. The University of Georgia did a very complex multi year study as well as the university of Tennessee. The State of Wisonsin has also done some great work. check it out at the machine that is in use in this video has dust suppression that works quite well but for filming was not used.

Great show - my boys will love seeing this - especially my oldest --- do we have another Bob Villa in the making??? YOu should markt this program to businessess - my company just started a recycling program and I bet the HR group could have used someting like this to roll out the new program
