Adele Berry was absolutely amazing! I was very impressed with her "episode".... So articulate, warm and friendly.
I watched it twice. I loved taking a look into her world as an Art Director. I look forward to seeing possibly more of Mrs. Berry and others like her.
Foremost, the UniTee Design team would like to applaud your efforts in bettering our world and people, and hopes this year has proven enriching as well as fruitful for and to you.
We also extend our best wishes for a healthy, safe and happy Kwanzaa and holiday season, as well as a generous 2008, to you and those you deem dear.
An ethnic empowerment enterprise, UniTee Design (UDI) is on a mission: to rebuild Black Unity in our schools and communities primarily through the development, support and funding of more effective educational opportunities for today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
As 2008 approaches, we’ve been working hard to complete and introduce two new and important initiatives:
Developed in cooperation with The Detroit Threat Management Center, this self-defense and public safety awareness program helps school-aged children feel more comfortable in their communities, teaches them how to stay safer on the streets, and fosters self-discipline and respect.
Recently featured on blacknews.com, The Model Student fashion career development program is the product of a joint collaboration with the Abandoned In Detroit team, and introduces the world of fashion to schools via instructional photography, videography, fashion design, modeling and hair and make-up styling. The program is also structured to improve overall academic performance levels.
Your support of UniTee Design apparel and accessories helps fund these and other important initiatives such as Public Art Workz, a summer camp that teaches creative arts and merchandising to inner-city youth. We will be holding a major fundraiser event featuring Motown recording artists The Miracles and The Contours this spring in cooperation with BlightBusters, one of Detroit’s most prolific not-for-profit organizations, to raise monies for this much needed program.
UDI products are currently available at Spectacles in Detroit, Phat Gear in Atlanta, and Eastern Michigan University’s bookstore. Several joint ventures are in the works with The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit HBCU Network, and other partners in purpose.
This year, we will introduce new apparel designs and develop our product line to include sweatshirts, sports jerseys, baseball caps, etc., as well as produce and participate in unique live events such as Detroit Fashion Week 2008.
Every day, more “Purpose Providers” in the form of students, distributors, retailers, educators, promoters, sponsors, our business community, customers, and media partners, are helping to fulfill the promise of brighter futures and a vision of a better world. Purpose Providers can also make money while spreading Black Unity in the communities they live, work and play.
UDI is expanding its existing operations in Detroit and New York to the beautiful city of Atlanta in January 2008, where we are already planning the next Models-In-UniTee fashion show and photo shoot “Purpose Providers” party on July 19th.
We have all we need within and amongst us to uplift our youth. Your valued input and participation in moving forward our mission are vital to our ability to do more, for more, more often. We'd welcome collaborations towards a common cause and greater good. Please join us in building purpose, pride and power in the Atlanta community of children, and beyond. You are encouraged to check out to learn more about our products and programs.
The tree of Black Unity is growing every day. Let us now bear it fruit so our children flourish.
One unity and all the best . . .

As the husband of an African American woman and an educator of African American children, I thoroughly enjoyed the video. I feel that racism and the race supremacy mindset has its roots in racial perception. For instance, European slave traders felt they could exploit West Africans because of a perception that the Africans were "uncivilized savages." Thanks to "I am Blackness" and to African Americans like Adele Berry for their work in presenting a more realistic view of the African American people which is positive.
Great show. It provides a forum for us to tell our stories, while showcasing just how intelligent and heterogeneous we are as a people! It is positive, authentic, and inspiring. I hope it is picked up by one of the major television networks, and gains the kind of exposure such a rich and rewarding depiction of "Blackness" deserves! We are proud of you Carletta.
Hi everyone, this is Carrletta... creator & producer for "I am Blackness." First, I just wanted to thank all of you for your encouraging words of support. It makes such a difference! (o; Please know, we will be posting new shows soon. Until... thank you so much for watching & supporting this show. Love -c
Wow, very inspirational. I think this should be shared with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Our young people need to see more positive role models making a difference. Empowering others through personal testimonies is a powerful way to reach out and touch lives.
uplifting and inspiring. adele was wonderful and worth emulating. i am just not too ken on the banner "i am blackness". i have always shy away from containment, especially self-containment. i believe women like adele transcends the racial devide, and race should not highlight her achievements. ciao!
This show and the sista, Adele, are both breaths of fresh air. Like she said, we must begin/continue to (be able to - truthfully, candidly) tell our stories...this is so important and one of the many things that will propel us by bringing us back together in common-unity. I'll be passing this along and checking-in for more. Thank you'all, OnelOve...
I have never been more proud of Mrs. Berry; whom I briefly met in 2004. The presentation is elegant, positive and fitting for the high aspiring and performing "Africans-in-America" audience. I eagerly look forward to more.
I am white, almost 70, and this was GREAT! What an honest and yet positive image this gives of the black community. I hope you can get things like this into main stream TV. The production was EXCELLENT as well.
This is great!. Very well done. I'm sure that as more shows are produced we will be exposed the beautiful side of the black experience. THERE IS much to be shared in this respect. Keep it coming!
I love this show. It is very positive and encouraging. It is great to see that onnetworks is highlighting positive images and stories about African Americans; in addition, it is relavent to everyone.
