Talent: John Frame - Sculptor
John Frame is a sculptor who has been working in SouthernCalifornia since the early 1980s. His work has been exhibited extensively in the United States as well asin Europe, Japan and China.
A major survey of the artist’s work was held at the LosAngeles County Museum of Art in 1992. In 2005 the Long Beach Museum of Art organized a retrospectiveexhibition, which covered a twenty-five year period of the artist’s work.
He has twice been a recipient of grants from the NationalEndowment for the Arts and received the Young Talent Award from the Los AngelesCounty Museum of Art. In 1995 he was awarded the J. Paul Getty Museum’sIndividual Artist Fellowship.
His work can be found in the permanent public collections ofthe Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Orange County Museum of Art, the LongBeach Museum of Art and the Renwick Gallery of American Art at the SmithsonianInstitution. There are more thanthree hundred private collections in which his work may be found.
Frame has been artist in residence, visiting artist or guestlecturer at more than fifty museums, universities and art related institutionsaround the United States. He hasalso taught at the University of California at Los Angeles, Art Center Collegeof Design in Pasadena and at the Claremont Graduate School.
His studio is currently located in the San Gabriel Mountainsof Southern California.
