Feng Shui your Way
Episode “Home office-Your place to shine”

Leigh: Welcome to Feng Shui your Way, I am your host Leigh Kubin and today we are going to address the all too common problem of the home office. This room falls in the fame and reputation area of the Bagua, so we re going to set it up in a way that inspires productivity. Let’s check it out.
Victoria: Leigh I am almost embarrassed to take you in here but we do call this our home office.
Leigh: Wow it looks like a catch all.
Victoria: I don’t get a lot of work done in here; I don’t feel comfortable in here. I am not inspired so I try to get out as soon as possible.
Leigh: With all of the clutter and things on the floor it really creates stagnant energy. So it’s hard to concentrate and be inspired by a place that doesn’t inspire you. But we are going to fix that. Now a couple of problems that I see are that you have two desks here. Now you do both you ad your husband work here?
Victoria: Yes we both share the space.
Leigh: And both of your backs are to the door. You have no support and you are not protecting your back, so it’s no wonder you don’t want to work in here. The problem I see with this desk is not only is Kevin’s back not protected, but that he is right in the mouth of Chi. So all the energy of the door is rushing in and hitting him.
So we have some options. Really with this desk the way it is situated it needs to be up against the wall. And the only two options for this area are really right here or if we were to move it here. But it does not stop the Chi from hitting him. Another effective way to move the Chi would be to put a runner right here. So that when he is sitting at his desk he is not slammed with the Chi.
And that will just encourage it to move this way.
Victoria: Ok
Leigh: If you leave the desk here though, you need to get a mirror. And you can put it right here on his computer screen or you can find a large one to hang above the computer, just so that he can see when someone is approaching him. So he is not surprised.
So tell me what inspires Kevin.
Victoria: Well there is only one major thing and that is bicycle riding and racing.
Leigh: Oh, so we can incorporate something that has relevance to him, and put it over here on this wall.
Victoria: Yes, he would love that.
Leigh: Would he be up for helping us with that?
Victoria: I think he would, I think I could talk him into it.
Leigh: Ok great. What about this TV on the floor?
Victoria: That can go; we just didn’t know what else to do with it so it landed here.
Leigh: So let’s find a new home for that. Somewhere it can be used and appreciate and it isn’t an eyesore.
Victoria: Deal
Leigh: Ok, I am going to give you little homework. I wan this room to inspire you. I want you to think o tings you want to achieve, things you want to be known for. So tat you are validated for what you are doing with your lives work. And what we are going to do is I see moving the desk here. And you can put on this wall tings that you want to achieve, things that you want to earn. Maybe things you want to be known for. And they will be right there in front of your face everyday when you are working. And they can be anything.
And then behind you I would choose a piece of art that really inspires you. That supports you. And you have a view of the door, and I think between seeing what you want everyday and being supported from your back I think that would be a great start.
Are you up for painting?
Victoria: Sure.
Leigh: I am kind of seeing a red wall right here. That would be a great representation of fire. Since this is the fame and representation area f the Bagua, fire is the element that is presented here. And a red wall would be a great way to activate this area.
Well Victoria: What do you think?
Victoria: Unbelievable, I cannot believe the change in this room and I cannot wait to work in here.
Leigh: I think that you are going to be very productive in this room.
Victoria: I am so inspired.
Leigh: Yeah, tell me about the vision board.
Victoria: Well, what a wonderful creative project this was. I began cutting out things from magazines. And I put photographs and I put some of my sayings that I have found that inspire me up there. And created this board that I will now look at from my desk and it just, it’s wonderful.
Leigh: It is perfect you will be able to see it everyday while you sit there and work. Tell me about the bike.
Victoria: Well this is my husband’s side of the office that we are sharing and he is a bicycle riding racing enthusiast. This is an old bike frame of his that he decided he wanted to put up here as a piece of art. And since it incorporates the shape of the triangle that you said, it corresponds to fire. It seemed perfect.
Leigh: What a great choice. And I love the money tree in the wealth area of this room. That was brilliant. I love the fact that he has got the mirrors around the picture of you. The picture is in the relationship area of his desk. So that works very, very well. But it has the mirrors around it so that he can protect his back when he sits here. So that was great.
And then it works, because it directs Chi this way. So it does not hit him when he is working. I love the curtains on the window. It really softens them up and adds a great touch to this room.
Victoria: Leigh I am so exited with the way this room turned out. I cannot wait to sit down and start working.
Leigh: Oh, I think you are going to create many wonderful things here.
Victoria: Thank you.
Leigh: No, thank you. And for Fung Shui your Way I am Leigh Cuban and I will see you next time.
