Episode “House for sale”
Leigh Kubin: Welcome to Feng Shui Your Way I am your host Leigh Kubin and today we will be working inside a home that is for sale so let’s get inside and see some easy, inexpensive ways to get this home sold.
Your house was recently on the market and you have not had a lot of activity, what are your goals to work on today?
Kane: What I would like to do Leigh is get my top dollar asking price for the house and also sell the house as fast as possible enabling me to move to my other house and synchronize the closing date and everything with the building of my house.
Leigh Kubin: OK so you are not having to go into an apartment or something?
Kane: Yes.
Leigh Kubin: OK we are actually going to work in the wealth area of your space and the reason is because it is the main room off of the front door. We want to pull in the people that are coming to look and show them how much space they actually had been here and the way it is set up right now you can’t see that. I think that if we rearrange it and maybe we move some of the furniture it will really show the space for what it is.
Kane: Alright well that sounds like a great plan.
Leigh Kubin: The first thing that we are going to look at today is the entrance into this room, and you have got it blocked with this sofa and the sofa table. So really we want to open that up and encourage people to come in here and sit down and imagine themselves living in this space. I think that if we clear out some of this furniture will be easier for them to see that.
Kane: Anything that will help sell the house faster will be great.
Leigh Kubin: How in love with his chair are you?
Kane: I’ve had this chair since college in it is great for me watching football games, but my wife does not really love it. If it is going to help move things faster here than we could definitely move it out.
Leigh Kubin: I think if we got rid of that in a small sofa we can open the room up and make it appear really bigger than it is.
Kane: Alright that sounds like a good idea.
Leigh Kubin: The elliptical in the kitchen, is there any way we could move that?
Kane: Yes definitely we have room in the back, an empty room that we can move it to so that would be fine too.
Leigh Kubin: Let’s clear that out an open up your kitchen, or the kitchen nook and show that a table can go in there nicely. There are some fun things we can do on the outside of the house as well in the first thing I would like is to get that chi moving in here.
Kane: Ok, Leigh what exactly is chi and how can that help me sell my house?
Leigh Kubin: Well chi is energy, so you think about the energy that you draw into your house, that goes to your home. People follow that so if they feel the chi, they feel the energy, it feels right when they walk into the space, it is not something that you chi is just something that you can feel. So we want to activate the front of the house to get the chi flowing so that people will come into it.
Kane: OK this sounds a guy good idea.
So we will get that going and we will work in your wealth area outside. We can plant flowers, like if you have a bed out there we can plant purple and gold flowers. If you do not have a bed out there we can do something as simple as a ribbon, purple or gold ribbon. In the relationship area we want to activate that area so we can try flowers to, anything with pink in it. And you know it does not have to be flowers, but let’s get creative and put something in that space.
My favorite thing is to put bunnies in the helpful people and travel area, and bunnies reproduce very quickly, so we think about our helpful people just growing and growing. And you really want those helpful people to help you sell the house, realtors out there saying you know you have got to see this house, people saying I know a perfect house that you can buy, so we really want that activated to. And between the three of them I think that we will meet your goal.
Here’s what we’re going to do, we’re going to rearrange this room removing the excess furniture, we are going to organize the babies toys only leaving out the ones that she needs. We are going to add a Chinese money tree to the wealth area activating that sector. We are going to remove the elliptical out of the kitchens eating area to really open up the space. These changes will show the potential buyers really how much room they could have.
Tell me Kane, what do you think?
Kane: We really like it a lot, it is a complete change from what we had before but I think it is going to help us sell the house faster.
Leigh Kubin: How does it feel to you?
Kane: It feels very open and when you come in it has a lot more energy to it than when we had it set up before.
Leigh Kubin: I think we have really created a space that invites people to come in and sit down and take a look and think what it would feel like to live here, so I think bill really help you and the selling process. The toys being moved are great, you have left a few of them out so they can tell that this is a kid friendly place but it is not a lot of clutter. We activated the wealthy area of this room by placing the tree there and I think that works very well for you especially since you did not want to make major changes since you’re getting ready to move. I am so glad that the elliptical is out of the kitchen and you have your kitchen back, I think for people to come and they can really see how well they can use the space.
Kane: Definitely.
Leigh Kubin: Well one last thing I want to share with you is the red envelopes and this is a great way to release your house what I would like you to do is find something small from the house, like maybe a screw or a nail and you can place it in a envelope. Then you’ll want to find a natural stream or running water that you can place it in to let it go. Before you let it go only to remember all of the memories that you had here and think about all of the memories that the next owners are going to create.
Kane: OK great I know a perfect place that I can put this and anything they can help me sell the house I will definitely take your advice on that, thank you.
