Thanks for the great comments Betsy, Abbie, Clyde, Michael, flossy, feeskate, and Mishka! I appreciate you all taking the time to sign in and comment on this show. What you don't see in the show is me freezing my tail off for these shots. :) Someday we are going to release an episode of bloopers and footage of me shooting and then you will see the pain I sometimes go through to get the shots. Just imagine sitting in the snow covered meadow as the sun goes down and the fog rolls in. Ice formed on my jacket, hat, and glasses as I sat and captured the sunset. All the people left and I was the only one out there crazy enough to be there. I see so much that others do not because I am there freezing at sunset or getting up before the sun rises to catch the sunrise. The Coyote walking across the shot was early morning, and he was as surprised to see me as I was to see him. Those are times that are special.
Also, I had a great conversation with the man whose wife is seen skiing in the background of one of the shots.
Thanks Mary, Paco, Michael, and Phil! This is my favorite show to date. It was also one of my most memorable trips. When I'm going through rough times, I just mentally put myself there again, watching the sunset behind Delicate Arch, and I feel better. When I really need help, I watch this episode. As I go around to other places, and sometimes things don't work out with the clouds, or rain, or heat, I just remember that sometimes things work out like they did at Arches. You just have to keep going and be there when the magic happens. North Dome was a similar experience.
Thanks for the comments everyone. I wish I could capture the smell of the place for you all and transmit it in HD. :) There's another season of shows coming up as soon as we find a sponsor for the show, and my new camera captures the places even better than the camera I used in the first season.
Thanks for the comments everyone! Havasu Canyon is indeed a spiritual and awesome place. There are so many things, like the cloudy emerald water, the terraced waterfalls, and the canyon walls. Some things you don't see in the show are the trash lined canyon and the trash strewn villiage you go through on the way there. I was picking up trash on the trail until I just plain had too much and had to set the bag on the side of the trail next to some other trash bags. I'm not going to judge the people living in the villages harshly though, as the town I live in is similarly trashed. It's so easy for some to not respect the place where they live. And it only takes a percentage...
Once you get to the falls and the campground you are in a magical place.
