Flighty's equal parts recipe is great. My various bar books are all over the place with proportions. This works the best.
Regarding bartenders' fear of vermouth--there might be two reasons. First, the trend for ever-dryer martinis may lead newbies to believe that vermouth is somehow undesirable or "bad." And, since vermouth is a wine, the way most bars store opened bottles at room temperature leads to an infrequently used bottle going sour. This sour taste reenforces the image that vermouth is bad among newbies who've never had it as intended. Any other thoughts on the prejudice against vermouth?
I thought I had everything for this but I couldn't find Amaro Ramizoti in my stash, so I tried TheQ420's suggestion to substitute sweet vermouth. Great! Thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to find the AR and try Flighty's drink out.
Great show! The three episodes were very informative. Yes, Miss Flighty does seem flighty. But please give Alberta a break. She's not been on the air (so to speak) for as long as Rachael Ray, and there's probably more than one reason that she's called Miss Flighty.
